35th Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles unveils hybrid in-person and online screening line-up

The 35th Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles, the largest showcase of Israeli cinema and television in North America, unspools this year both in theaters and virtually from May 5th – 26th.  The Festival’s Opening Night film on May 5th is director Avi Nesher’s critically acclaimed “Image of Victory,” nominated for 15 Ophir Awards; the evening also serves to celebrate Israel’s Independence Day.

Israel Film Festival Yoram Kahana Award – “Cinema Sabaya”

The evening started with the first annual presentation of the Yoram Kahana Award for Emerging Israeli Filmmaker. The award was established to honor the memory of the late Israeli HFPA member Yoram Kahana – who loved cinema and had a special preference for non-English and Israeli films – and to support an emerging filmmaker with a donation of $5,000.

Rabin Assassination ‘Incitement’ Premieres at Israel Film Festival

When Israeli Prime Minister Yitzhak Rabin was assassinated in November 1995, his hope of a lasting peace between the Jewish state and the Palestinians died with him. Israel Film Festival Honoree Arthur Cohn Brings ‘The Etruscan Smile’ to L.A.

Veteran producer Arthur Cohn has six Oscars, three honorary doctorates, numerous lifetime achievement and humanitarian honors and a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. This month, coinciding with the release of his 28th film, “The Etruscan Smile,” Cohn will receive the Israel Film Festival’s 2019 Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening night gala on Nov. 12. The Israel Film Festival in Los Angeles held its annual sponsors luncheon on June 13 at the Beverly Hilton. The festival, which bills itself as the largest showcase of Israeli films in the U.S., used the luncheon to kick off its 33rd festival, which is set to run Nov. 12-26.

Roger Corman, Avi Nir and Guy Nattiv Honored at Israel Film Festival

Director Guy Nattiv is a testament to the Israel Film Festival. After submitting his shorts to IFF for the last 10 years and getting his Academy Award-winning short 'Skin' turned into a feature-length film, he was honored at Thursday's IFF luncheon alongside legendary director-producer Roger Corman and Keshet Media Group CEO Avi Nir.
